Corgis & Croissants

A foodie love affair

Finding hidden gems in florida

Fort Lauderdale can be a wee bit too intense for me in certain areas, but the historical sections are pure magic. Especially when explored with your dog and besties.

Let’s bite into something amazing…

You know when you meet someone through a mutual friend and they make a comment that sparks this unbreakable bond between the two of you? Well, that’s what happened when Matt quoted The Lord of the Rings and we “nerded” out during a photoshoot completely ignoring everything else. Since then, he and his husband have become family and I am so grateful for that unexpected meeting a few years ago.

This passed weekend, Ro and I were adventuring around our wonderful state of Florida, aka Alligator Paradise, and stayed with Matt and Alex at their home in Wilton Manors. Now, this area is definitely a vibe, but it won’t be the focus of this article. This story is centered around something I find myself dreaming of almost daily…

I can’t even express the pure joy I have walking into this Zen space surrounded by two historical buildings that have been transformed into a restaurant called The House on the River. It feels like a French Riviera and the bakery, which looks like a botanical greenhouse inside, serves authentic croissants that are quite literally huge.

The croissants themselves come in many varieties. My favorites so far are the lemon curd and pistachio cream. The best part is that not only is the filling on the top, but it’s also on the inside. Truly, I freaking love pastries.

A park full of sunshine

02. I’m still learning…

I just bought this gorgeous long board from The old Naples Surf Shop and can finally stand on it without falling.

04. Ro loves when we grab sweets.

It goes without saying that I shared my croissant with her. Duh.

06. The “Thrive” Statue

The popular artist from south africa, daniel popper, installed an enchanting statue in the wharf area right across the tracks from the riverwalk.

01. The day was beautiful.

There’s something about the simplicity of a park and everyone doing their own thing on a friday morning.

03. The building is so pretty.

The women that run the front counter are always smiling and I just love that.

05. I love creating with friends.

I’ve learned that creating is so much more fun when you are with other artists that vibe with you.
